- Maintain provider schedules and facilitate changes in the schedule based on availability of residents and faculty.
- Accurately and efficiently schedule patient appointments with patients and/or referring clinics utilizing Axium.
- Facilitate coordinating appointment with other departments within the School of Dentistry.
- Maintain and review schedule daily to ensure patient balances are collected prior to the start of the appointment.
- Monitor schedule to ensure Prior Authorizations and Predeterminations have been completed and scanned into the Electronic Health Record.
-Review patient 's insurance coverage for treatment being rendered with the patients and providers before the appointment and/or prior to treatment.
- Review Treatment Plans with patients (with the assistance of the Graduate Residents.)
- Manage phone calls by triaging calls, retrieving messages, calling patients to address concerns and scheduling appointments.
- Patient check-in and check-out for the Graduate Restorative Dentistry Clinic, supporting 7-14 residents per half day.
- Obtain, verify, and update insurance, financial, and demographic information with the patient. Educate patients regarding insurance benefits and liability for services.
- Work with Clinic Supervisor to facilitate and maintain Prior Authorizations, Predetermination and Financial Arrangements.
- Complete Adjustment forms utilizing guidelines created by the Dental Business Office.
- Verify Medicaid daily -Reconcile daily cash and credit card payments.
-Collects payments, co-pays and past due balances at patient check in/out using the established department/school guidelines.
-Develop, along with supervisor, standard of work to ensure clinic productive and efficient.
-Assist, facilitate, and innovate through ideas in identifying, improving, and resolving operational issues with others.
High School Diploma or GED. 3 – 4 years of related work experience. Knowledge of basic dental terminology. Prior experience performing complex scheduling. Familiarity with obtaining health records or professional dental and medical billing. Financial counseling experience. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting. Communicates effectively. Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent attendance record.
Associates degree in a health related field, Business Administration, or other related field, or equivalent work experience. Knowledge of advanced dental terminology.
