Reporting to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO), the Director of Procurement will manage the College's strategic sourcing, procurement and contracting functions, including developing strategies and procedures for a customer-centric end-to-end procurement process and system. The Director will advise the CFAO on building out a best practices procurement function while creating a strategic roadmap for procurement, and will execute all of the procurement initiatives across the College and act as the primary point of contact for outside vendors and internal customers.
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Develop the roadmap for creating a robust end-to-end procurement function across the College.
Educate and advise internal customers on developing solid procurement practices that will enable a campus-wide awareness and understanding of the value of procurement.
Create policies and procedures for the procurement of goods and services.
Identify cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
Set-up internal controls for procurement, using a "hands-on" approach in a decentralized environment.
Manage the p-card process.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal customers and partners.
Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve any operational problems that may arise and become the primarily point of contact and trusted advisor for the procurement function.
Work with the office of the General Counsel to create template agreements and customized contracts.
Develop strategic relationships with existing vendors and initiate relationships with new vendors.
Initiate bids and RFPs for all goods and services.
Negotiate contracts and terms and conditions with vendors on behalf of the College.
Build strong, productive partnerships with vendors.
Structures and Systems:
Create a category-led plan for strategic sourcing across the College.
Develop metrics for procurement and internal customer satisfaction.
Create a user-friendly e-procurement platform to enhance the use of blanket agreements.
Develop realistic targets for savings using a category-driven approach.
Build out a robust procure-to-pay system using cost effective solutions.
Set up and implement a plan for transition to greater user of electronic payments to vendors.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A minimum of seven-years indirect procurement experience managing aminimumspend of $70M is preferred.
Diverse experience across multiple categories of indirect spend.
Extensive knowledge of end-to-end procurement including P2P.
Well versed in spend analytics, vendor management, p-card and supplier relationship management, with a quantitative approach to decision making.
Strategic mindset and problem solving/negotiation skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to serve as an "ambassador" for the College in all interactions with external stakeholders.
Progressive approach to procurement as a primary change agent.
Superb communication skills, verbal and written.
Excellent time management and ability to lead and engage others.
