Essential Job Duties:
The primary purse of the Patient Account Representative is being responsible for the billing and collections of patient's accounts at Student Health Services (SHS).
Duties include: reviewing charges, processing medical insurance claims, and researching unpaid/pending claims. This position will accurately post patient and insurance payments and enter over the counter medicine charges in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system at check-out.
The Patient Account Representative will provide excellent customer service answering questions relating to all Student Health Services departments both verbally and in writing, conveying the information in a courteous professional manner according to SHS policies & procedures. This position will provide additional administrative support for SHS as needed including but not limited to scheduling medical appointments and the check-in process.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Medical Billing experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of medical insurance and terminology.
- Experience performing financial transaction processing in a medical setting.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT Coding.
