Handles telephone system while simultaneously prioritizing calls according to urgency; selects the best appointment type or option based on each patient’s chief complaint while maintaining a professional telephone demeanor. Updates patient information in electronic medical records (EMR). Maintains responsibility for following HIPAA compliance protocols and procedures for the release and transmission of EHR information to approved individuals and entities. Check-in/out patients, takes payments and schedules follow-up appointments. Balance cash drawer daily, maintains petty cash. Retrieves messages received via telephone, fax, mail, or electronically, and directs to appropriate person. Scans or otherwise inputs information into EHR or practice management software as appropriate. Works closely with clinical Center Manager to ensure efficient patient flow and smooth clinic operations. Assist Center Manager with billing/ERA entry/collections. Assist Center Manager with monthly audits. Assist Center Manager with current provider re-attestations/re-credentialing. Assist Center Manager with compilation and dispersal of monthly statements. Assist Center Manager with applying monthly financial assistance discounts. Assist Center Manager with monthly clinical operations reports. These duties may require advanced knowledge of coding and insurance requirements. Assists in obtaining translation services for patients. Assists central site with patient registration and certification of patient demographics. Assists central site in processing referrals/obtaining pre-authorizations, these duties may require advanced knowledge of coding and insurance requirements. Performs or assists in performing special projects for Center Manager as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
