Serves as receptionist for the Student Health Building (SHB). Greets and provides customer service and support for all visitors entering and leaving the building. Provides administrative support for the medical billing and eligibility verification functions of Student Health Services, accepting payments and explaining the billing process to students.
CASHIER/ACCOUNTING DUTIES: Identify charges entered by medical provider in the electronic practice management system, collect payment, and provide patient with receipt; Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each day, preparing and submitting daily close of cash drawer reports to the accounting specialist; Place and remove financial holds on students' accounts when amount owed is not paid on day of service and remove holds when balance is paid; Assist accounting specialist with the preparation and mailing of student medical invoices for collection of outstanding debt; Determine if student has the U.T. sponsored student health insurance or is a self pay student prior to collection of any payment.
RECEPTIONIST DUTIES: Provide customer service including greeting and directing students and visitors to the correct location in the SHB; Ensure all vendors/workers have appropriate identification and the authority to enter the clinical areas, escorting them to authorized areas when necessary; Issue parking permits and maintain log for authorized visitors parking in the SHB parking lot; Verify appointment status for patients requesting a permit; Assist with eligibility verification to receive services at Student Health; Obtain appropriate documents to assist with eligibility verification (i.e. insurance documents, student I.D., etc); Scan documents into the electronic practice management system.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT DUTIES: Generate nightly report of students who were referred to outside medical providers for treatment and who have the U.T. sponsored student health insurance; Electronically transmit referral information to the U.T. sponsored student health insurance for all identified students; Assist with the review and verification of state required immunization documentation submitted by newly enrolled students and input information into electronic medical record; Provide telephone support by serving as resource to answer questions regarding immunization status and other SHC related questions.
