Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Treasury Associate for Central Administration, Department of Treasury Operations. The Treasury Associate reports to the Director of Treasury Operations and analyzes and performs cash and investment activities in support of the University's financial operations.
Responsible for cash management and forecasting in support of University's operations.
Conduct daily cash positioning and coordinate with the university's custodian and investment manager to invest or redeem cash in order to fund the university's operations
Evaluates the purchase of a Treasury Management System (TMS) and helps to manage the implementation.
Create models in Microsoft Excel and/or the TMS to improve the accuracy of cash forecasts
Development of processes to improve the quality and timeliness of cash balance information
Works with the Director of Treasury Operations and outside investment managers to develop the Investment Policy Statement, investment strategy, and operational logistics for the University's operating cash portfolio, which ranges from approximately $500M to $1B throughout the year
Track market trends and proactively recommend adjustments to the investment strategy and asset allocation based on projected yield, maturities, and liquidity needs
Develops and documents policies and procedures for key Treasury activities including daily cash positioning, cash handling,electronic payments, cash forecasting, Treasury accounting, etc.
Evaluates existing processes to identify opportunities for efficiencies, automation, and risk mitigation.
Reviews the University's Foreign Exchange provider and recommends improvements based on cost and process.
Conduct periodic bank fee analysis and recommend changes related to bank account structure and products
Prepares monthly management reports on investment performance, liquidity, and other financial metrics.
Maintain bank accounts and relationships including products, documentation, signatories, and user administration
Works with departments on key projects such as the conversion of vendors to electronic payment methods, the rollout of purchasing and travel cards, and the management of overseas bank accounts.
Act as a point of contact within Treasury to assist university departments with banking, cash handling, credit cards, etc.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field.
A minimum of 2 years of treasury experience in a corporate or higher education environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Broad understanding of the Treasury field and related activities
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong ability to work cooperatively and diplomatically across departmental boundaries
